What is colon hydrotherapy?
Colon hydrotherapy is a method of removing waste from the large intestine, without the use of drugs. Filtered water is introduced into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in waste removal or evacuation through natural peristalsis. This process is repeated a few times during a session.
What is a colonic session like? A colonic is a comfortable experience for many people. During the session, most clothing can be kept on and you will be draped or a gown might be worn to ensure modesty. Your dignity is always maintained. The techniques utilized, allow a small amount of water to flow into the colon, gently stimulating the colon’s natural peristaltic action to release softened waste without producing any toxicity.
Is colon hydrotherapy safe? Yes! No pressure is used and the client is free to get off the table whenever they choose.
Does the treatment hurt? No. The client is in control all the time and the session can be stopped whenever they choose.
Is the small intestine cleansed during a colonic? No. A colonic will cleanse the large intestine up to the ileocecal valve. The small intestine can only be cleansed orally.
Should I see my doctor before my first colon hydrotherapy session? If you have a concern about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy you should consult a doctor. If you are pregnant or have heart disease, you are NOT a candidate for a colonic.
Does a menstrual period at the time of a colon hydrotherapy session affect treatment? No. For many people, it helps with bloating.
How many sessions do I need? The treatment plan will vary from individual to individual. The practitioner will discuss the client's goals and needs with them during and after their first colonic and work with what is best for them however, two sessions back-to-back is recommended for the best results, and a third 3-5 days after the second session.
Is colon hydrotherapy sanitary? Modern colon irrigation equipment is manufactured in compliance with strict federal guidelines that dictate rigorous accountability. Disposable single-use rectal tubes and nozzles are used. FDA colon irrigation devices all feature temperature-controlled water-mixing and backflow prevention valves, pressure and temperature sensors, water purification, and disinfecting standards.
What should I do to prepare for a colon hydrotherapy cleansing?
Try to stay away from eating wheat, heavy dense meals, and meat. Two hours before coming, try not to drink more than 16 ounces of water.
Will I experience any discomfort or fatigue after the session?
Usually not, but since the cleansing will stir up a lot of old debris and toxins, you might experience some minor fatigue. If any discomfort occurs, it is recommended to rest and apply a warm heating pad to the abdomen. A mild vegetable broth or peppermint tea is soothing. Any discomfort will usually pass within 24 hours.
Can I work directly after having a colon hydrotherapy session?
Yes. You can work just as you would after a regular bowel movement.
